Prosthodontics

A good smile can boost your self-esteem and enhance your health, so losing your natural teeth can be devastating. Unfortunately, about three out of five people ages 35 to 44 have lost at least one permanent tooth. In fact, some of us lose most or all of our teeth because of decay, gum disease, or injuries.

Luckily, modern dentures that replace lost teeth look more natural and feel more comfortable than the dentures your grandparents may have used.

Partial Dentures

This type of prosthesis is recommended if you need to replace several teeth in a row or your remaining teeth are not strong enough to support a fixed bridge. Removable partial dentures consist of acrylic or ceramic artificial teeth embedded in a gum-colored plastic base that is form-fitted to the underlying mouth tissues. Inside the prosthesis is a framework of light, noncorroding metal that makes it strong and stiff.

Full Dentures

If you have missing or badly damaged teeth, dentures can restore your smile. A denture is a removable dental appliance made of acrylic plastic, and sometimes porcelain and metal, that replaces missing teeth and tissues. Due to advances in dentistry, dentures are more natural looking and comfortable than before. A denture can improve your appearance and help you chew properly and speak well again.  Read More…
